Samsung’s Unique Galaxy Note Edge Smartphone Lands in India for More Than $1000
Samsung’s Galaxy Note Edge is a unique smartphone that features an innovative design, which, of course, isn’t available to everybody. And to further show that we’re talking about an exclusive product, Samsung has brought it to the Indian market at quite a high price.
The Galaxy Note Edge comes with a curved screen on the side and will start selling at select retail outlets in India at Rs 64,900 for the 32GB variant. Converted into US dollars, we’re talking about a price of $1024. The cheapest version of the smartphone is priced somewhere around $840 in the US.
The smartphone will be available in the first week of January in black and white color options. As for its usability, many believe that it’s a way for Samsung to showcase its curved display technology that is starting to get traction among new TV buyers.
As for the specs and features, the Galaxy Note Edge is basically a Galaxy Note 4 with a unique curved display. The curve on the side displays additional information, which can be accessed while the main display is switched off or being used for some other content.
The Edge Screen, as it’s called, is located on the right-hand side edge and gives users quick access to frequently-used apps, alerts and device functionality. Thus, owners of this device can assign shortcuts to the side when using he phone. Therefore, it can be used to become a Twitter timeline or a stock market ticker, among other features.
There are also virtual desktop-like working environments that can be switched using the side display; and it’s also possible to navigate the homescreen or app drawer using this edge. Users can also design their own Edge Screen with their favorite images and text, and make use of the S Pen, as well.
The Note Edge has a Quad-HD screen (1,600×2,560 pixels), a 2.7 GHz quad-core processor, 3GB RAM, 32 GB storage space, a microSD slot with 64 GB support, 16 megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilisation and a 3.7 megapixel front camera.
