India is one of the fastest booming mobile markets in the world, mainly thanks to the rapid growth of the smartphone and tablet market. Such companies as Xiaomi and even local ones as Micromax and others have contributed to the release of affordable handsets, which has resulted in increased Internet usage across all of India.

And now according to a fresh report coming from eMarketer firm, it seems that India is set to surpass the US in therms of mobile Facebook users. So, by 2017, market research firm eMarketer estimates that India will have the biggest number of Facebook smartphone and tablet users in the world.

At the moment, it seems that around 1 billion users access the popular social network through their mobile phones and tablets at least once each month. eMarketer said:

“India — the world’s second largest Facebook audience — will surpass 100 million mobile phone Facebook users for the first time this year and by 2017, will have more mobile Facebook users than the US. The US will remain the largest market for mobile phone Facebook users this year, and nearly 80% of users in the country, or 123.1 million people, will access the site regularly via mobile phones”

The report says Facebook’s mobile userbase in the US will hit 123.1 million followed by India at 101.5 million, by the end of the year. But by the end of 2017, India will have almost 150 million users, followed by the US at around 140 million.

At the moment, Facebook has around 112 million mobile Indian users, with more than 99 million of them using the platform on their mobile phones at least once a month and about 45 million users login in every day to connect with their friends on Facebook.
