MIT brings Minority Report GUI thanks to Kinect

Kinect has definitely proven its capability thanks to the various hacks which keep surfacing over time. Sometime back we saw the amazing Shadow Puppet Hack for the Kinect and now guys from MIT have introduced a new one for the Kinect and this new experience is quite similar to the one from the movie, Minority Report.

Getting up from the couch and jumping around is one thing, but this is what everyone wants. Waving your hand to get awesome stuff done on your PC has been a dream ever since I saw Tom Cruise doing it in Minority Report and inspired by that guys from MIT have managed to get the Kinect recognize all fingers of the human hand.

We are not very sure but seems like this new hack allows detection of over 60000 points at 30 fps and this sounds so bloody interesting. I just hope that Microsoft takes some inspiration from these guys and work on something very similar. Also, don’t you think it would be a great idea to get such developers involved in improving the Kinect experience? It would surely be a great future for this amazing technology.
