Most of us may already know the Kitara Digital Guitar Synthesizer from Misa Digital, for those are unaware this is a digital alternative to a real guitar and it consists of three main components including a full fretboard, a multitouch screen and an onboard polyphonic synthesizer with pre-loaded sounds and effects.

When using the Kitara you do not strum strings instead each fret contains six buttons which can be played while the user touches or crushes across the 8-inch touchscreen and this produces sounds and textures. A simple screen setting means sic strings which can be played by touch each virtual string and multiple effects and sounds can be then combined so that it can be played in a more conventional way, by mapping sounds and effects to the x and y axis of the screen.
The good news is that the Kitara is now up for pre-order and will start shipping in April 2011. The standard edition is priced at $849 while the limited edition aluminum version is priced at $2,889.
