Huawei has been trying to make a name for itself for a while now and in order to achieve that, the Chinese based manufacturer has created a device for each category available on the tech market. Only a few months ago Huawei launched its latest MediaPad M3 tablet and to no one’s surprise it’s going head to head with Apple’s iPad Mini 4. One of the reasons why the two devices are competing with each other is because MediaPad M3’s design looks very similar to Apple’s tablet, but today we will go over both devices specs and see which one is better.

Hardware

Apple equipped the iPad Mini 4 with its trademark 64-bit A8 processor that’s paired with the M8 motion coprocessor and 2GB of RAM. The device can be acquired in the 16GB/32GB/64GB/128GB variants. On the other hand, Huawei’s MediaPad M3 is powered by the powerful 64-bit octa-core ARM Cortex A72 processor which is paired with 4GB of RAM. Unlike Apple’s iPad, the tablet can only be acquired in the 32GB and 64GB variants. In terms of hardware performances, the two devices are at par with each other and there aren’t that many differences rather than the additional 2GB of RAM featured by Huawei’s tablet.

Design

As previously stated, in terms of design the tablets look very similar. In fact, if it weren’t for the logo many customers would mistake MediaPad M3 for iPad Mini 4. Apple’s tablet has a slight advantage over MediaPad M3 because it’s a bit lighter but only because it sports a smaller 7.9 inch display while the MediaPad features a larger 8.4 inch display. The iPad Mini 4 is available in Gold, Space Gray and Silver colors while the MediaPad M3 can be acquired in only Silver and Gold colors.

Verdict

Overall, the two tablets can be considered to be equal in terms of performances. The only major difference that can be found is that Huawei’s tablet is equipped with better pieces of hardware but Apple compensates for that by optimizing iPad Mini’s hardware so that it offers the same performance level. What customers should take note of is that Apple’s tablet is priced at $319.99 while Huawei’s tablet costs $299.
