Games with Gold for Microsoft’s Xbox Live January list
It is indeed the season to be jolly, as Microsoft comes around once again and offers its subscribers plenty reasons to rejoice in the upcoming period. As per usual, Microsoft puts out a list of games that can be downloaded for free for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One respectively. This is part of its Games with Gold campaign, which targets Microsoft’s Xbox Live Gold users. If you count yourself among those that are eligible for the free goodies, you’ll be happy to know that Microsoft has released the list of titles that will become free to download in January.
Usually, Microsoft gives out two games for the Xbox 360 and two for its more modern Xbox One console, but due to the latter’s built in backwards compatibility feature, players are able to enjoy older X360 titles directly on the current gen device.
Starting with those that own the Xbox 360, Microsoft will give out The Cave, which is an adventure title normally priced at around $15. Once January begins, you’ll be able to snatch it for free until the 15th of the month. The very next day will mark the availability of the second free game of the month, which is also normally priced at $15. The game in question is Rayman Origins, a game that taps into a classic franchise to bring a smile on your face.
Moving on to the more fancy Xbox One, January will bring players an interesting game in the form of World of Van Helsing: Deathtrap. It is categorized as a tower defense type game and usually it goes for $20 on the store. While the first game is available for free all month long, players will only be able to snatch Killer Instinct Season 2 Ultra Edition between the 16th of January and 16th of February. Outside the promotion, this one costs around $40.
