Tesla Model S P100D Coems with Software Update Improvements
Tesla’s model S P100D is considered to be the best Tesla car because of its out of this world features. The Tesla car was unveiled back in August and it was considered as one of the fastest Tesla cars ever, but it seems that wasn’t enough since Tesla is rolling out a new OTA (over the air) software update that will increase the car’s speed, respectively the time it takes to go from 0 to 60 and 1/4 mile times.
Right now the Tesla model S P100D goes from 0 to 60 miles per hours in 2.5 seconds, but with the upcoming software update the time it needs to ramp up to 60 miles will be 2.4 seconds, makes you wonder how much faster the car can actually go. The Tesla car finishes a quarter mile in 10.78 seconds right now, but the time be shaven down to 10.6 seconds after the update. What makes this software update interesting is that Elon Musk thinks of the speed boost as an “Easter Egg”, but this is something more than just a simple “Easter Egg” even if Tesla is known for including different “Easter Eggs” in their software updates that add new features to the car, but never something like this.
Owners of the Tesla P90D that was upgraded to P100D asked Elon Musk on Twitter if their cars will also receive the speed boosts, and Musk responded by saying “All P100D Vehicles produced to date, as well as new”, meaning that this only a software optimization and all Tesla P100D old or new will receive the speed boost.
The official date for the OTA update has not been confirmed yet, but we can expect it to be rolled out during next month. Tesla is not hurrying with their updates at all, they need to check the new update for bugs before releasing it, because it’s going to affect a car, not a smartphone and that could put people in danger.
