OnePlus One Gets Early Android 5.0 Lollipop Update Thanks to Unofficial CyanogenMod Build

OnePlus One owners have been looking with envy at other smartphone users who have been announced that they will be getting the Android 5.0 Lollipop update in the near future. But it seems that now there’s a solution that OnePlus One users can try out.

An early build of Android 5.0 Lollipop is now available for CyanogenMod 11S powered OnePlus One, thanks to the brainiacs over at the XDA-Developers.com forums. A Senior XDA member has shared a functional build of CyanogenMod 12 based on Android Lollipop.

You need to know that the build is not yet stable enough, since the CM build is in its alpha stage. Also, some of the features are not working in this build, so expect it to mimick the final feel, as there’s still work to be done behind the curtain.

A Reddit sub-topic has also been made available, so that it could be easier to follow the progress. Before proceeding with the install, you need to make sure that you have created a back up all data of the phone. Also, obviously, your OnePlus One should be rooted and have the latest version of recovery installed.

Also, the battery should be charged above 80% and you need to take into account that the Android Lollipop ROM is meant for OnePLus One only. You can follow the above link on Reddit to see how to proceed with the install. Here are all the recent updates that have been issued:

What is the point of putting the body of the Reddit post into the article, if you were going to link it anyways?
