Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P Have Yet to Receive Android 8.0 Oreo

The relationship between Google and the Nexus community is not a great one. Everything fell apart when Google announced that its going to leave the Nexus brand behind so that it can focus more on the new Pixel lineup. However, Google is trying to make amends for that by giving Nexus smartphone owners a couple more updates.

Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P Receive Android 8.0 Oreo

Android 8.0 Oreo is Google’s latest operating system and even though Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P weren’t supposed to receive it, the Android parent decided to give it to them as a parting gift. However, it seems like things are not going according to Google’s plan since numerous Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P owners are reporting that Android 8.0 Oreo has yet to arrive on their smartphones.

More than two months have passed since Android 8.0 Oreo first arrived to Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P units. The updated arrived OTA (over the air) and it popped up in the notifications panel. Sadly, a large majority of Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P owners have yet to receive the update.

Android OS is Not Showing Up

As previously mentioned, there are numerous users who are complaining that Google’s latest operating system has yet to appear in their notifications panel. Worth mentioning that this is not Google-like, since the Android parent has a reputation for never being late when it comes to updates.

Alternative Method of Downloading Android 8.0 OS

It seems like the only thing that Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P owners can do right now is to simply wait for Google to finally release Android 8.0 Oreo to their smartphones. Luckily, there is an alternative method of getting the major update ahead of time. Users can always download the update from Google’s Android website and sideload it manually. Also, Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P owners are advised to search for a sideloading guide first.
