Gionee Launches Super Slim Elife S5.1 Smarpthone, Available this December
Gionee is a manufacturer of mobile phones based in China, but it is most known for its operations in India. The company has been quite agressive and has managed to build a name for itself in the India market.
One of the most important reasons for growth is constituted by the fact that the company has managed to impress with well-built devices at affordable prices and sporting unique features. Such is the case with the new Gionee Elife S5.1 smartphone.
The name itself already speaks about the most important aspect of the device – its thinness. Elife S5.1 is derived from the incredible slim profile that it has – 5.1 millimeters. Gionee claims that it is the ‘world’s thinnest smartphone’ as it has did it with the previous Elife S5.5, but this is not exactly true. But it’s definitely among the thinnest.
The 5.1mm-thick smarpthone has been priced at Rs. 18,999 (around $307), and will go on sale in India from the first week of December. So if you like elegant devices, maybe you know what your Christmas present will be.
The Gionee Elife S5.1 runs Android 4.3 with Amigo 2.0 UI onboard, which is a drawback, as it doesn’t even run KitKat in a time when everybody speaks about Lollipop. The smartphone features a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 720×1280 pixels which means it has a pixel density of 320ppi.
On the inside, we find a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, along with 1GB of RAM. The handset gets 16GB of non-expandable built-in storage, which is another drawback.
The smartphone gets a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Connectivity features include Bluetooth 4.0, Micro-USB 2.0, Wi-Fi, GPS, and OTG connectivity. LTE has also been mentioned, but it’s not sure whether it will work on India’s cellular bands.
A 2100mAh battery is powering the device which weighs just 100 grams. The super slim smartphone will be available in Black, White, Pink, and Mint Green color variants. The smartphnoe isn’t exactly cheap because it comes with a metal and glass body, and that’s something that you need to bear in mind.
