Asus Taichi launched in India, priced Rs. 1,39,999

Asus has launched its notebook/tablet hybrid device in the Indian market. This new device is called the Asus Taichi and was first unveiled by the company at Computex 2012 earlier this year. This device has dual 11.6-inch touchscreen display setup and officially priced in India at Rs. 1,39,999.

No doubt this is a premium product and not meant for an average consumer. The device itself is quite unique, as it operates a as standard slim Windows 8 based Ultrabook. But the fascinating feature is its other display which sits right behind the main display. When one shuts the lid the secondary touchscreen display shows-up and the device can be used as a Windows 8 based tablet.

Both these displays can work simultaneously and have Full HD 1080p resolution.

This hybrid ultrabook is powered by Intel’s latest Core i5 and Core i7 processors, it has 4GB of DDR3 RAM, 128GB/256GB SSD options, a 5 megapixel rear camera and a secondary webcam with 720p video capability.

The device runs Windows 8, it is just 1.25 kgs in weight and is 17.4 mm thick and its thinnest point. It is a high priced device and one would wonder why he/she shouldn’t purchase a MacBook Pro which has a similar price.
