We are all excited about supporting Start Ups and keeping that in mind we came across PhoneCurry.com. A website launched in February 2010 which helps Indian consumers select their next mobile phone. The website has great features and it makes a positive impression on every user, but more on the website later.
Background
First let’s get to know more about the idea behind the website. The website is developed by Sahil Bajaj graduate from IIT Delhi. After spending two years in management consulting, Sahil left the job and started PhoneCurry.com, a website to help Indian consumers decide which mobile phone to buy, in a simple, clutter-free manner.
Review
When for the first time I landed on the home page of the website, I was a bit disappointed. I got a feeling that it is something like every other mobile comparison website, cramped with ads (even though there are no ads running on the homescreen) and with all the basic features you expect from any such website. However, I was later corrected thanks to the great features which it has to offer.

The home screen gives you great options to search for all the available mobile phone options. You can select the price range, the form factor of and the features which your next mobile phone should include. Once the search criteria is submitted the website shows you the available and upcoming phones which will match your requirements. On the left hand you have the ability to further narrow down your search. It helps you include or exclude manufacturers, search in respect of multimedia capabilities and look for phones which support enterprise features.
It does not end here as the best part is yet to come. Now, after narrowing down the search according to your requirements say, you have three phones at your disposal and you still need to make a perfect decision, you obviously compare them and when you compare them using PhoneCurry.com you are sure to make a decision you won’t regret.

You add the phones to the compare list and voila you get a great page displaying all the specifications of the phones you picked up, a link to their official webpage, a brief on the Pros and Cons and links to reviews from trustworthy online magazines. If you want to know more about the device you can simply select the phone and you land on a page which shows you all the features, specifications, expert opinions and to help you make your final decision the website also helps you with a brief video review.
Verdict
I am really impressed with the website, it helps with an in-depth mobile phone search and it scores great points in terms of features. Although it has all the major GSM phones listed, it lacks information on CDMA devices. While the website is built really well, it needs a major design for the home page as it may disappoint many new visitors.
