Nokia unveils Windows Phone Smartphones under Lumia series

At the Nokia World Conference, the Finnish manufacturer not only announced their new Asha series of feature phones, but the company also announced their much awaited Windows Phone 7.5 Mango based devices. Apparently, Nokia will unveil all of their Windows Phone devices under the Lumia series and it currently includes the Nokia Lumia 710 and the Nokia Lumia 800.

Both the smartphone will come with lifetime free turn-by-turn navigation, globally free music service called Mix Radio and a 1.4 GHz processor with hardware accelerated graphics. According to Stephen Elop, Nokia CEO these are the ‘first real Windows Phone’ devices.

Nokia Lumia 800

This device looks very much like the upcoming MeeGo based Nokia N9 and comes in the cyan, magenta and black. The Nokia Lumia 800 sports a 3.7-inch AMOLED ClearBlack curved display and it is powered by a 1.4 GHz processor. It includes an 8 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens, autofocus and dual-LED flash. Additionally, it supports HD video blackback, has 16GB built-in storage, 25GB storage with SkyDrive and is priced at 420 EUR which converts to 28,900 INR approximately.

Nokia Lumia 710

This Windows Phone device from Nokia has customizable back panels, it looks pretty much as phone from the former C series and is powered by the same 1.4 GHz, hardware acceleration and graphics performance as the Lumia 800. The Nokia Lumia 710 comes in black and white and has five different colors available as back panels. It has a 3.7-inch ClearBlack display, 8GB of built-in storage, 25GB SkyDrive storage, 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash. The device is priced at 270 EUR which converts to 18,500 INR approximately.

The good news is that Nokia won’t take much long to introduce these devices in the Indian market as they are expected to hit the stores before the end of this year. While the official pricing is not yet confirmed, it would be placed around the above mentioned prices.

  1. What did you say!!!
    2,98000 INR.

    Are you kidding me?
Who’s gonna pay that much even for all those features above/…
    I think you’ve made a mistake.

  2. Hi Jott,

    The news is really exiting.
Please have the price conversion corrected in the post above for 420 EURO which is written as 28,9000 INR (an extra zero is added to it.).

  3. It’d be great if they announced a Nokia WP7 phone with a hardware keyboard…
That would probably make me switch back to Nokia..
