Nexus 6P Confirmed to Receive Android 8.1 Oreo
Google’s relationship with the Nexus community is not in a very good place. The reason behind this being that Google has officially killed off the Nexus brand and it started focusing on its newer Pixel lineup instead. Although, Google is still trying to make amends for leaving the Nexus brand behind by launching a couple more important software updates to Nexus 6P.
Nexus 6P to Receive Android 8.1 Oreo Update
The Android parent recently confirmed that Nexus 6P is scheduled to receive a new update. This update is quite major since its Android 8.1 Oreo. This update is mainly focused towards fixing bugs but its way much more than that because it also includes a couple of performance enhancing tweaks.
Roll Out Date
While Google confirmed that Nexus 6P will receive Android 8.1 Oreo, it also said that Nexus 6P owners are required to wait a little more time before that happens. The update will arrive sometime during next year and it will include all the current security patches and bug fixes.
Although, we need to mention that tech savvy Nexus 6P owners can get their hands on this major update ahead of everyone else by downloading the Developer Preview version of it. Moreover, this version will have its fair share of bugs since it’s in beta and we advise Nexus 6P owners to better wait for the official OTA (over the air) roll out date instead.
Nexus 6P Overview
Even though this smartphone was initially launched back in September of 2015, its hardware specs are still viable to this day. Nexus 6P used to hold the title of being Google’s flagship and this is why the Android parent equipped it with the best hardware parts available at that time.
The smartphone is fueled by Qualcomm’s octa-core Snapdragon 810 CPU which clocks at 2.0GHz. In addition, the processor is also paired with an Adreno 430 graphics processing unit and 3GB of RAM.
