Lenovo Launches Three New Tablets in India
Lenovo India has announced three new Android based tablets in the Indian market, two of these devices run on the tablet optimized Android Honeycomb while one of them is an Android Gingerbread based tablet. They include the IdeaPad K1, Thinkpad Tablet and IdeaPad A1.
The Lenovo IdeaPad K1 is a Honeycomb based tablet device which sports a 10.1-inch display with 1280 x 800 pixel resolution. It has 1GB RAM, 32GB of built-in storage, expandable using microSD card, micro HDMI port, 5 megapixel rear camera and a 2 megapixel front facing camera. The WiFi-only version is priced at 29,500 INR while the WiFi+3G version is priced at 33,990 INR. It also has a keyboard dock which can be purchased separately.
Next is the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet which is also a 10.1-inch Honeycomb based tablet. It has 1GB RAM, WiFi connectivity, micro HDMI port, 5 megapixel camera and a secondary 2 megapixel camera. The tablet will include enterprise friendly features like Cisco VPN and support for encrypted SD card. The device comes in three variants – the 16GB WiFi-only model is priced at 29,500 INR, 32GB WiFi+3G model is priced at 41,900 INR and 64GB WiFi+3G version is priced at 46,900 INR.
Finally, the company also announced the Lenovo IdeaPad A1 which is an Android Gingerbread tablet and targets the budget tablet segment in India. The tablet has a 3 megapixel rear camera, front facing VGA camera, 512MB RAM, WiFi and GPS capabilities. It is priced at 14,990 INR.
Both the Honeycomb tablets are powered by a 1GHz dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, while the IdeaPad A1 is powered by a 1GHz single core Cortex A8 processor. The company is yet to announce the availability for these tablets.
