Firefox 4 Beta Now Available for Android and Maemo

Thanks to the new smartphones, mobile browsing is a really convenient way to surf the internet. There is no doubt that it will soon be available for everyone and what will make this browsing experience more enhanced is the web browser. People have asked for a mobile version of the Firefox since a really long time and now it’s here.

Mozilla has recently announced that the Firefox 4 Beta for Mobile is now available for download and test. Although this mobile web browser is currently available only for Maemo and Android devices. The Firefox 4 Beta for Mobile supports Firefox Sync, add-ons and the Awesome Bar, while the company has also worked hard to improve the responsiveness in this build. The two major changes according to Mozilla are Electrolysis and Layers. The alpha version included Electrolysis which allowed the browser interface to run in a separate process from the one rendering web content, which helped make it a much responsive mobile web browser, but with the beta we have layers which improve the overall performance and improved graphics for scrolling, zooming and animations.

Firefox 4 Beta for Mobile also supports pinch-to-zoom on multi-touch devices. The Awesome Screen will give you instant access to your recent history, bookmarks and tabs just by a simple tap in the Awesome Bar. Developers can use the latest in web technology, like HTML5, JavaScript and CSS to build and improve the Firefox 4 Mobile experience through some great add-ons. Head over and download it on your Android or Maemo device.
