Opera Mini Browser to Land on Samsung Gear S Soon
Opera Mini is a popular browser for mobile devices known for the fact that it manages to load websites when when you aren’t exactly rich in mobile data.
Now, according to the most recent information, it seems that it will soon become available for Samsung Gear S owners, so make sure to check out your Samsung Gear Apps store to see if it has landed. Lars Boilesen, CEO of Opera Software, said the following about the partnership:
“As a lightweight but powerful browser maker, Opera has been a pioneer of making the web accessible across a huge variety of connected devices, such as the internet keyboard, the dual-screen handheld game console, VOIP phones and, now, wearable device. We are thrilled that Opera Mini will be the first browser for Samsung Gear S users to download. This is an exciting, new experience for smart-gear users.”
The reason why Samsung has decided to partner with Opera on the Mini browser is thanks to its compression technology that shrinks the size of webpages to as little as 10% which results in a faster and more energy-efficient browsing experience.
The Opera Mini is also going to be the first web browser for the Samsung smartwatch based on the Tizen platform. The browser will also sport finger-friendly controls suitable for the small 2-inch curved Super AMOLED display.
It will also come with Smart Page features that allows users to check their social updates and news, and Speed Dial which allows to visit a web page with a quick tap. The browser also has a private mode, believe it or not.
