Tesco Hudl 2 Tablet is Official, But Will it be as Successful as the Original One?

The much awaited Hudl 2 tablet from UK retailer Tesco has been unveiled a few days ago, and it comes with some nice specs and features. But we wonder whether it can be just as successful as the first one.

Tesco’s Hudl 2 tablet has been officially announced, sporting a larger, sharper screen and improved camera for a still affordable price of £129. The original Hudl has managed to sell in more than 750, 000 units, so the current generation has a legacy to cotninue.

The Hudl 2 sports an 8.3-inch screen and runs on Android KitKat 4.4.2. The tablet will actually be available from Tesco stores, and online, from 9 October, which is this Thursday.

Tesco’s budget tablet has a claimed  eight-hour battery life when watching videos, 16GB of on-board memory, which can be expanded to 48GB with microSD card support.

The tablet now comes with a rear-facing camera of 5MP, improved from the 3.2 MP on the original one, but the rear one is just 1.2MP, down from 2MP on the first Huld.

The original Hudl has a smaller, 7-inch screen and is now available for £99. The current Hudl 2 sports a 1920 x 1200 resolution, which  translates into 272 ppi as compared to 1400 x 900 on the original one and 237 ppi.

On the inside, the tablet is powered by an Intel Atom quad-core processor. The tablet also comes with a special filter allowing parents and kids to use a single device. Thus, parents can set up profiles for up to seven users.

The Hudl 2 will be available in eight colors – Jazzy Blue, Zesty Orange, Slate Black, Rocket Red, Tropical Turquoise, Dreamy White, Perky Purple and Bubblegum Pink.

Included is also a £25 free blinkbox credit to spend on movies, books and music, £10 off clothing range F&F when customers spend £50, £10 off Tesco Direct when they spend £50, £15 of Tesco.com when they spend £60 and 10 free photos when they buy 50 at Tesco Photo.
