Sony promised at its pre-Tokyo Game Show media event last month, that they will make themes available on their PlayStation Vita platform, as soon as possible.

And that day finally arrived on October 2, with 3.30 version of the update for PS Vita System Software. Along with themes, the new update will also bring some additional features and improvements.

The most notable additions are the possibilities of changing start and home screens, changing icon themes and switching the system background music. Although it was said that two types of themes will be available, only non-game themes will be available at launch.

This theme pack includes  Crystal, Four Seasons, and Stitching. The other type, Game-based Themes from popular titles such as Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Tearaway, and Freedom Wars, is still marked as “coming soon.”

Reportedly, themes are not the only thing that comes to the PlayStation Vita with the 3.30 software update. Calendar’s usability has been improved, allowing users to send event messages and files to other users via Messages and Email.

Along with the PS Vita, Sony plans to introduce similar, but of course, more powerful themes to PlayStation 4. But nothing is official for now, as the company has yet to reveal details about the release of this update.
