This is similar to tags throughout the internet. The feature allows users to tag particular documents, media files, etc. to categorize them for easy access via searching from the Finder Sidebar. One can also search these files and access them on other devices using iCloud.

Maps and iBooks

Apple Maps is now accessible on the Mac OS as an application. It allows users to send location from their Mac directly to iPhones and iPads for easier navigation. It can be integrated throughout the OS X Mavericks and developers will be able to access it via a new API. The iBooks Store has also been made available on OS X Mavericks which will allow the user to access over 1.8 millions titles from the store.

Improved Multiple Displays Support

OS X Mavericks makes using multiple displays much easier and powerful. The menu bar and the dock will be on any display and users can now easily run windowed and full screen apps on whichever display they choose, without the need of any configuration. OS X Mavericks also adds support for Apple TV and AirPlay which transforms the HDTV as a secondary display.

Interactive Notifications

Notifications has been drastically improved with better interactivity allowing users to reply to messages, respond to a FaceTime call or even delete an email without leaving the application. Sports and other websites which break news, can now send notifications to the Mac, similar to mobile apps. It also sends notifications from iOS apps, and a notification once viewed on any device will be removed from other device(s).

The calendar app has gone under a major redesign and it now sports a much cleaner look. It has been integrated with Maps, allows users to continuously scroll through weeks and months and sports a much simplified event creator and editor.

Safari Web Browser

Amongst other things the native web browser has been improved for better performance via a new process-per-tab architecture, which will make browsing a lot faster, responsive and stable. It sports a new sidebar with reading lists and easy access to bookmarks. Other new features include shared links, which allows a user to discover, read and share content from webpages at one place.

iCloud Keychain

This feature enables users to store sensitive information like usernames, passwords, credit card details, Wi-Fi information in a safe AES-256 encryption. It also allows users to save login and credit card credentials, so one does not have to remember them when entering them onto a webpage.

Timed Coalescing and App Nap

These two new features enable improved power efficiency with the former grouping low-level operations so that the processor spends more time in a low-power state while App Nap reduces the power consumption from an app which is not in use. This also works along with the new compressed memory technology and these together then help improve the performance about 1.4 times than that of OS X Mountain Lion.
