Nokia announces two new phablets, Lumia 1520 and Lumia 1320

Finally, Nokia has announced its smartphones with huge displays (aka phablets). It includes two new devices and as expected the much rumored Nokia Bandit is one of them. Earlier the company also announced three new phones in its Asha series.

These new device from Nokia are called the Lumia 1520 and the Lumia 1320. Both smartphones were unveiled at the Nokia World 2013 event which was held in Abu Dhabi. The Lumia 1520 will be available later this year while the Lumia 1320 will arrive in market only next year.

Both the smartphones feature a 6-inch display and due to this huge display the devices make use of a third new column of tiles which has been introduced to the Windows Phone homescreen.

The Lumia 1520 boasts a 1080p full HD resolution 6-inch ClearBlack display and it is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor which is clocked at 2.2GHz. It further includes 2GB of RAM and features a 3,400 mAh battery which according to the company can provide up to 27.4 hours of talk time and 32 days of standby time.


The smartphone has 32GB of built-in storage capacity which can be further expanded up to 64GB using a microSD card. Nokia also offers 7GB of free SkyDrive cloud storage with this device. It also features a 20 megapixel PureView camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and Nokia Camera app, which brings some nifty features and more control to the smartphone camera.

This smartphone will be available in yellow, white, black and glossy red color variants and it will come pre-installed with the Nokia Storyteller application.

Next is the less expensive Lumia 1320 which also flaunts a 6-inch display, however with 720p resolution. This device is powered by a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor which is clocked 1.7GHz. It includes 1GB of RAM and has a 3,400 mAh battery which is rated to provide a talk time of 25 hours or 28 days of standby.


The device features a 5 megapixel camera and comes with 8GB of built-in storage which can be expanded up to 64GB using a microSD card. It also includes 7GB of free cloud storage on SkyDrive. The device includes the Nokia Camera apps, HERE Maps and Nokia Music. It will come in orange, yellow, white and black color variants.

In terms of the pricing and availability the Nokia Lumia 1520 has been priced at $749 (46,000 INR approximately) and it will be available in Hong Kong, Singapore, US, China, UK, France, Germany, Finland and other European markets initially, later followed by other markets.

The Nokia Lumia 1320 which will arrive next year has been priced at $339 (21,000 INR approximately) and it will initially launch in China and Vietnam, later followed by Indian and other European countries.
