Pixel 2 October 4th Release Date Hinted by Google
Now that Apple finally unveiled its highly anticipated new iPhone lineup, Google decided to start teasing its upcoming flagship. While most rumors were speculating that Pixel 2 will be unveiled on October 5th, it seems like it will happen a day earlier. The Android parent recently started a new market campaign with the slogan “stay tuned for more on October 4th” which can be understood as “Pixel 2 will come out on October 4th”.
Apple Influences Google
The Android parent has been quite adamant about not releasing any valuable information regarding Pixel 2. The reason why Google wants to keep the smartphone away from media’s eyes is so that it can use the element of surprise when it finally decides to launch it. However, it seems like Google doesn’t want the entire world to keep talking only about Apple’s latest iPhone lineup in fear of losing customers and that’s why it started teasing Pixel 2.
What’s interesting is that a while back ago, Evan Blass (famous leakster) reported that Google will launch Pixel 2 on October 5th since that’s the date when Qualcomm will also release the new Snapdragon 836 SoC. According to Qualcomm, the new chipset will not be coming out this year and Pixel 2 will instead be powered by the Snapdragon 835 chipset instead. Worth mentioning is that this is the best mobile processor available right now and all other Android flagship smartphones are using it.
Headphone Jack Removal
Ever since Apple removed the 3.5mm audio jack from iPhone 7, almost every major smartphone company did the same. Google was expected to not follow in Apple’s footsteps and keep the headphone jack. However, a recent speculation is showing the otherwise. Google is teaming up with HTC in order to equip Pixel 2 with HTC’s trade-mark “squeezable” feature which will make it difficult to also install a 3.5mm audio jack.
