Motorola’s G4 Lineup is Now Scheduled to Receive Android 8.0 Oreo
Ever since Google announced Android 8.0 Oreo, every major smartphone company started revealing which one of their devices will receive the new operating system. Motorola is one of the first companies to reveal which smartphones are included in the Android 8.0 Oreo roll out. However, this shouldn’t surprise anyone when considering the strong ties between Motorola and Google. Although, there was a problem with Motorola’s listing since none of the G4 lineup smartphones were included and this caused the community to start complaining.
Moto G4 Lineup Correction
Seeing that Motorola didn’t want to start rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo to any of the Moto G4 smartphones, the company’s forums were quickly flooded with complaints. The reason behind this is that these devices are not even one year old and there’s no real motive to why they shouldn’t receive Google’s latest operating system at the same time with everyone else. Luckily, Motorola acknowledged that this was a mistake from its part and included the Moto G4 lineup in its software update list.
Motorola shares some history of working together with Google and that’s why Motorola is always one of the first companies to get access to the latest Android software update. In fact, Motorola had a reputation of always keeping all of its smartphones up to date. Sadly, things have changed since Lenovo acquired the company and took charge of it. While Lenovo’s involvement is not necessarily a bad thing, the problem with this is that Lenovo has a different set of rules when it comes to software updates.
Android 8.0 Oreo
All in all, Moto G4 owners should be happy to know that Android 8.0 Oreo is coming their way. This new operating system contains a bunch of innovative feature and performance enhancement tweaks. One of those features is the new picture in picture mode which will give Moto G4 owners the ability to open two apps side by side.
