Shrek 5 Release – There’s a Big Chance it Could Happen!
If you lost any hope that there would be another Shrek movie, we’re here to cheer you up. Namely, DreamWorks Animation CEO, Jeffrey Katzenberg told us that there is a big chance that the fifth Shrek movie will be released sometime in the future.
Earlier this year, Merlin Entertainments announced a cooperation with DreamWorks Animation to create the Shrek themed attraction ‘Far Far Away Adventure’ in London.
The Guardian reports that Shrek’s ‘Far Far Away Adventure’ will be owned and operated by the same company that made the legendary London Eye ferris wheel, the London Dungeon and London Sea Life Aquarium – Merlin. There will be six attraction, and the first one is scheduled for the summer of 2015, just in time for the movie’s 15th anniversary.
Jeffrey Katzenberg revealed that he is confident about the release of the next Shrek movie, but we’ll have to wait a bit until its release:
“I think you can be confident that we’ll have another chapter in the Shrek series,” DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg told Fox Business in an interview Tuesday. “We’re not finished, and more importantly, neither is he.”
In the same interview Jeffrey said that franchise is planned to span into five movies, with a possibility that the fifth film might be a prequel to the first four.
“It’s a finite story, has been from the beginning and I think that’s part of its integrity, part of its strength, that we’re not thinking this up as we go,” he said. “Ultimately we will come back to understand how Shrek arrived in the swamp. We will reveal his story.” It is still unknown what steps have been taken to make the new movie by the staff from DreamWorks, as none of them didn’t confirm anything, yet.
Shrek is one of DreamWorks’ most successful movies of all time. The franchise achieved a huge success in the 14 years since the first “Shrek” movie appeared on the big screen. All movies together have grossed $2.9 billion worldwide.
