Verizon Pixel and Pixel XL Among the First Ones to Receive Android 8.0 Oreo
Google recently unveiled Android 8.0 Oreo during the lunar eclipse and the entire Android community is going crazy about it. However, Android fans who purchased their smartphones directly from carriers are trying not to get too enthusiastic about the new operating system since carriers have a bad reputation of always being late when it comes to software updates. Fortunately for Verizon subscribers, the carrier announced that it doesn’t want to waste any time and that Pixel and Pixel XL handsets which run on its network will receive Android 8.0 Oreo ahead of time.
Verizon Pledges to Roll Out Android 8.0 Oreo
First of all, Google is directly in charge of Pixel and Pixel XL. This is the reason why both smartphones are eligible to be among the first ones to receive Android 8.0 Oreo. However, Verizon also pledge to start delivering the new software as soon as possible. Worth mentioning is that this is something completely uncharacteristic of Verizon since the carrier is known for always being late to the show, at least in terms of software updates. From the looks of it, Verizon just wants to make up for all the times it kept Android fans waiting.
Android 8.0 Oreo
There are a bunch of reasons why people are so excited about Google’s new operating system and most of them revolve around Oreo’s cool features. For example, Android 8.0 Oreo will contain a new picture-in-picture mode that’s said to revolutionize Pixel and Pixel XL’s multitasking capabilities. Also, Oreo is better optimized than Nougat and its able to preserve more battery charge with features such as the new Wi-Fi connectivity setting. Smartphones that run on the new software will be able to automatically connect and disconnect from Wi-Fi networks in order to preserve battery power and save up mobile data.
