Samsung Galaxy S9 Rumored to Feature a Snapdragon 845 SOC and Android 8.0 Oreo

Even though Galaxy S8 was unveiled only a couple of months ago, Samsung fans are already looking forwards to Galaxy S9. Fortunately for Samsung fans, the South Korean tech giant isn’t able to keep any secrets because rumors and leaks keep pouring out. The latest rumor concerning Galaxy S9 tells us that Samsung’s upcoming flagship that’s 6 months away from being unveiled will be equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 SOC.

Samsung Galaxy S9 with Snapdragon 845 SOC

Taking in consideration the long partnership between Samsung and Qualcomm, this rumor seems highly plausible. In addition, Galaxy S8 is fueled by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 SOC and it makes total sense for Samsung to upgrade it with an even more powerful processor. However, this processor is going to be used on the US and China Galaxy S9 variants.

Europe and Asia will more than likely receive a Galaxy S9 that’s powered by one of Samsung’s own-made Exynos processors. While we don’t have any official information, experts believe that Samsung is developing Exynos 9000 and that processor will be installed on Galaxy S9.

Operating System

Another reliable piece of information regarding Galaxy S9 is that it will ship with Google’s latest Android 8.0 Oreo straight out of the box. This new operating system was recently unveiled during the lunar eclipse. However, it’s still experimental software and Google needs a little more time until it can start rolling out the final version of it. Nonetheless, Android 8.0 Oreo will bring Galaxy S9’s user experience to the next level since it is packed with innovative features such as the picture-in-picture mod which enhances the smartphone’s multitasking abilities.

Display

The feature that made this year’s Galaxy S8 shine over its competition is the new and sleek looking Infinity display. Therefore, we can be sure that Galaxy S9 will ship with a similar looking panel. Moreover, rumor has it that Galaxy S9’s Infinity display will use QHD technology which offers a high pixel resolution of 2960 x 1440.
