LG announces Optimus G powered by Snapdragon S4 Pro and 2GB RAM

After releasing a few details about the Optimus G the Korean manufacturer LG has now officially announced this upcoming flagship smartphone. This is a LTE capable device powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor clocked at 1.5GHz and includes 2GB of RAM.

The key highlight of this device is the new LG display in-cell touch technology results in a thinner screen and bezel which is just 3mm in size. It is a 4.7-inch True HD IPS LCD display with a 1280 x 768 pixels resolution. Other features include a 13 megapixel rear camera, 1.3 megapixel front facing camera and a 2,100 mAh battery.

The LG Optimus G is just 8mm thick and will come in two colors – red and black. It comes pre-loaded with Android 4.0 ICS which will first launch in Korea next month and eventually arrive in other markets. It will also include a live zoom feature like that on the LG Optimus 4X HD and allow Dual Screen Dual Play mirroring for external displays. Other software features include Time Catch Shot picture selection and Cheese Shutter voice command to snap a picture.

The Optimus G also includes an Adreno 320 GPU, Bluetooth 4.0, MHL and NFC capability. As mentioned before LG Chem has worked on the battery for this device which offers a lifespan of 800 cycles. LG Display has partnered with LG Innotek to create the G2 Touch Hybrid Display unibody technology. We can expect more information on this device at IFA 2012.
