Blizzard Will Not Rebrand “Battle.net” Anymore In Order to Avoid Further Confusion
Blizzard is the company behind some of the world’s most popular games such as World of Warcraft, Overwatch and Star Craft alongside many more other huge titles. Ever since 1996 all of Blizzard’s games have been accessed through the Battlel.net app and the entire world is getting confused about the fact that Blizzard wants to rebrand the app. What’s even more confusing is that the game company only wants to add the word “Blizzard” to it. Fortunately, Blizzard realized that this is a huge mistake that’s causing people to get confused and decided to stick to the original name.
The question that sits in everyone’s mind right now is why would Blizzard even think to rebrand Battle.net after so many years. Well, the reason behind Blizzard’s decision is that it thinks people get confused on why the app is not simply called Blizzard instead. Ironically enough, the game developer managed to cause an even bigger confusion.
Nonetheless, Blizzard realized that Battle.net’s brand name is known and respected among the gaming community and took the wise decision to keep it as it is. Furthermore, the game developer stated the following in regard to this issue: “Battle.net is the central nervous system for Blizzard games and the connective tissue that has brought Blizzard together since 1996”. Blizzard then followed up by saying: “The technology was never going away, but after giving the branding change further consideration and also hearing your feedback, we’re in agreement that the name should stay as well. Take it from the developer formerly known as Silicon & Synapse, and Chaos Studios, names are important too”.
Confusion Comes to an End
It’s great seeing that Blizzard payed attention to the customer feedback it was receiving and didn’t decided to rebrand the app anyways. Taking in consideration the fact that Battle.net has been live since 1996, we can safely say that its brand name is already established and renowned throughout the entire world, especially in the gaming community.
