German news source, Financial Informer reported this Tuesday that Apple has won the initial injuction to stop the sale of Samsung’s Android Honeycomb based Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the entire European Union with the exception of Netherlands.

The Regional Court of Düsseldorf has agreed with Apple’s claims that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 infringes on intellectual property related to the design of the Apple iPad. A similar lawsuit is currently under process in Netherlands. If Sammy continues the sales of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 the company would be fined up to $350,000 for each violation.
Foss Patents has mentioned that the ruling in Germany will go into effect immediately, however Samsung will be able to appeal to the decision during another hearing.
Previously, on August 1st Apple succeeded in blocking the Galaxy Tab 10.1 sales until the courts there rule whether the device infringes the 10 patents which Apple has listed. Samsung has agreed that it will not advertise or sell the device, however if the South Korean company wins the case Apple will pay damages to Samsung.
UPDATE: Not content with suing only Samsung, Apple has taken this one notch up by going after Motorola Xoom too! Specifically, Apple is suing Motorola over the design of the Xoom, which they think infringes the design patent of their own iPad. They are also going after a German tablet manufacturer Jay-tech, but that simply ain’t as exciting to us as the three way Apple v/s Samsung & Motorola patent war!
