Apple Launches new $999 ‘Education-Only’ iMac

On Monday, the famous Cupertino based company announced the new iMac computer which would be exclusive to authorized education purchasers. Priced at $999, this is the 21.5-inch iMac which is cheaper but also less powerful than the original 21.5-inch iMac, the latter being priced at $1200 for all customers.

This ‘education-only’ 21.5-inch iMac will be powered by a 3.1 GHz Intel Core i3 dual-core processor, unlike the 2.6 GHz Core i5 processor included in the $1200 variant. This new iMac will include 250GB of hard drive, 2GB of RAM and a 256MB GPU.

This computer will also lack the new Thunderbolt I/O port. However, it will include other ports like the FireWire 800, Mini DisplayPort and four USB 2.0 ports. The iMac will also sport the FaceTime HD camera for video calling.

No word on its availability in India.

  1. I too was very skeptical before entering into an online program from a “High Speed Universities” but have been very surprised at how much I have learned. They offers a wide variety of learning resources and very comprehensive study guides in all of their courses.
