Xbox One September Update to Bring Media Player App and Other Improvements
Team from Microsoft working on updates for Xbox One has prepared us the new update for the console. Xbox One September update offers us a various improvements and additions, including the re-organized party app, new Friends section, Media Player app, etc.
The first notable change is the re-organization of the party app. The app will now allow users to see the activity of other members of the party and to see what games are they playing. Microsoft says:
“You can also more quickly perform common actions like muting, joining, or sending game invites. Also, Parties now have a Party Leader. This person can change whether the party requires invitations, and she/he can remove others from the party.”
Along with the re-organized party app, the new Friends section will also arrive with this update, allowing users to easily be in contact with people from their friend list, as well as see what games are they playing, and track their metascore over the last month.
Highly anticipated Media Player app will also be released. The release of this app will improve the experience of playing multimedial content on your Xbox One. Speaking of media, gamers will be also able to stream their content through the Smart Glass, as well as to boot the device directly to a TV program.
SmartGlass also got some re-design, too, and Xbox One users will be able to delete multiple GameDVR clips at the same time from now, as well as to save the Avatar picture to the One Drive cloud storage.
Unfortunately for Microsoft, Xbox One was again defeated by PlayStation 4 in sales for the month of July in the US. So, it would be interesting to see will the September update bring more popularity to the Microsoft’s console, or PlayStation 4 will still remain on top.
