XOLO Play is a Tegra 3 powered smartphone, up for pre-order for Rs. 15,999

A rumored XOLO smartphone is now confirmed, previously known as the XOLO T1000 this smartphone will be called the XOLO Play and it is the first smartphone from the company which will be powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 processor.

While the company has now officially revealed further details on the smartphone which will be a gaming-focused device as made obvious by its name. The device will not only be powered by the Tegra 3 processor but will also feature the Tegra-specific game store known as Tegra Zone which includes games optimized for Tegra mobile chipsets.

The XOLO Play is equipped with some nifty hardware as it sports a sensible 4.7-inch IPS display which has a 720p HD resolution with a pixel density of 312 ppi. As mentioned before it is powered by the quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor which is clocked at 1.5GHz and it further includes 1GB of RAM for efficient multi-tasking.

Apart from the aforementioned specifications the device will sport an 8 megapixel rear camera and a secondary front facing 2 megapixel camera.  It will include 4GB of built-in storage capacity and a microSD card which will support expandable memory up to 32GB.

In terms of the connectivity the device will supports 3G capability as well as support for Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 and GPS/aGPS. It will be equipped with a 2,000 mAh battery which will power the device, the ratings are yet to be announced.


It will come pre-loaded with Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean which will be skinned with some customization from the company. While this is not the latest version of Android it is likely to get an update sometime in the future.

XOLO is yet to officially announce the pricing and the availability for the smartphone, but it online retailer Flipkart has already shed some light on these details. Apparently, the device will be priced at Rs. 15,999 and is expected to launch sometime in the third week of this month. The specific date is not yet confirmed but some reports speculate it to be on the 15th July.

The smartphone seems well priced at is likely to go up against the newly launched Micromax Canvas 4 and the Karbonn Titanium S9 smartphone.
