Windows Phone 7 Launch Partners Confirmed

Microsoft has now confirmed the hardware partners who will be launching Windows Phone 7 handsets up on release.  Although, there is no specific launch date announced yet the first phone is expected to surface later this year sometime in October. It looks like the Microsoft’s launch partners for Windows Phone 7 will include Dell, ASUS, HTC, Samsung and LG.

Microsoft has been really interested about Windows Phone 7 and they are trying their best to make it a success as they have given out free developer phones and are also willing to pay developers to develop apps for the Windows Phone 7 platform. Many speculate Dell to launch the Dell Lightning which will be a Windows Phone 7 handset and HTC has also confirmed that they will be making Windows Phone 7 handsets.

The news comes from Pocket-Lint where Greg Sullivan also mentioned that Windows Phone 7 will not be carrier specific and will try to reach as many people as possible. He also mentioned that the new mobile operating system is aimed to compete with the existing leaders like Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android OS. He also said that;

“We will offer the best aspects of Android and the best of the iPhone, giving users the flexibility of different form factors, but with the rigidity of apps that are guaranteed to work on every device that is out there.”

Well, some early stages of the already available Windows Phone 7 still lack a few important features like third-party multitasking and simple copy-paste features. However, more development is under way and there may be a lot of changes until the final built is released. What are your thoughts about the Windows Phone 7?
