Pixel 2 XL a.k.a Taimen Will Replace Nexus 7
The reason why every major tech company is involved in creating smartphones is obviously because they make tons of money off it. Huge companies such as Samsung and Apple keep launching new smartphones every year and their fans buy it almost instantly. Well, this is exactly what Google is doing with its Pixel lineup right now.
Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL
The latest smartphone offering from Google are Pixel and Pixel XL. This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone to find out that Google is already adding the finishing touches to Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. What’s interesting is that Google is trying to keep those two smartphones under wraps as if it were a secret but no one is getting fooled, especially when the codenames for them have already been leaked.
Taimen and Walleye
Pixel 2 and the larger XL version are known under the Walleye and Taimen codenames right now and they’re expected to come out during the fourth quarter of the year alongside Google’s final and public version of Android 8.0 Oreo. While we might not now know too many details about what to expect from Google’s upcoming devices, we do know that they will feature smaller screen bezels which will make them similar to Samsung’s Galaxy S8 Infinity display.
In addition, many people believe that Taimen is actually a reiteration of Nexus 7. The reason why I am saying this is because Taimen is expected to ship with a supersized 6.0 or 7.0 inch OLED display that will be able to render images and videos in 1440p resolution.
On the other hand, Walleye will feature a 4.97-inch display which is the same size as Apple’s iPhone. However,Walleye’s display will offer a full HD 1080p pixel resolution. Rumor has it that both smartphones will be powered by the same highly powerful Snapdragon 835 2.45GHz processor that’s been paired with 4GB of RAM.
