Now Samsung has something to say about Apple’s Grand Antenna Press Conference

So we all know what happened at the recent Apple press conference which has held to address the iPhone 4 antenna issue. Well, the antenna issues got a solution but something else at the press conference turned out to be quite disturbing. Jobs showed us how smartphones from other manufacturers also have a problem of losing signal when held in awkward positions. But as per my knowledge nobody really likes holding phones in awkward positions and no one did it with the iPhone 4, the device just lost the signal and nobody took extra efforts to do it.

All this could have been easily sorted out, but in the beginning there was denial and now it is really creating a negative name for the company. No that this will affect a lot of its users as Apple fanboys are really loyal, but it has definitely given out some negative vibes about Apple in the entire industry. We heard what Nokia, RIM and HTC had to say about what happened at the press conference and now comes Samsung.

Well at the conference it was announced that the company will be giving out free cases to all iPhone 4 users so that there would at least be a temporary solution for the receptions problems. However, it was later followed by Apple demonstrating devices from other manufacturers which included the BlackBerry Bold 9700 from RIM, Samsung Omnia II and HTC Droid Eris. In the demonstrations Apple showed how the devices lose signal when held in certain spots and this was really a naïve and disrespectful move from Apple.

Now, Samsung came forth with its response and according to them there has been no recorded antenna issue with the Omnia II, and the also mentioned that they have designed and tested the phone with the ‘death grip’ in mind.

Here is Samsung’s statement;

“The antenna is located at the bottom of the Omnia 2 phone, while iPhone’s antenna is on the lower left side of the device. Our design keeps the distance between a hand and an antenna. We have fully conducted field tests before the rollout of smartphones. Reception problems have not happened so far, and there is no room for such problems to happen in the future”

Well, so what was all that demonstration at the press conference about? Well, it seems really strange and this entire incident has been quite chaotic. What are your thoughts?

    So what would have prevented apple from jamming cell signals when they were “demonstrating” this problem with other phones?

    If you take a competitors phone in your hand, then hold it in a specific way while someone off-stage turns on a signal jammer, you would see signal drop.

    They have this equipment. They use it to test their products.
