Nexus 5X vs LG G4 – A Close Battle

The year 2015 has been a fruitful one for smartphone lovers. All major tech companies refreshed their flagship lineups and this gave smartphone fans a wide range from where to choose from. However, two of the greatest smartphones to come out in 2015 are Nexus 5X and LG G4. What’s interesting about these two smartphones is that LG is the company behind both of them but this isn’t stopping them from competing against each other.

Even though Nexus 5X is being directly managed by Google, LG is still the company that’s responsible for all of its hardware parts. However, this shouldn’t surprise anyone since Google has basically made it a tradition to team up with different tech manufacturers and create smartphones together. Nonetheless, let’s pin these two handheld devices together and see which one comes out on top.


Nexus 5X ships with a 5.2-inch IPS LCD display which presents a full HD pixel resolution of 1080 x 1920 and a pixel density of 423 ppi. In addition, the display is really resistant because it has been coated in Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and oleophobic coating.

On the other hand, we have LG G4 and it ships with a significantly larger 5.5 inch IPS LCD display which offers a higher pixel resolution of 1440 x 2560 and a bigger pixel density of 538 ppi. Just like Nexus 5X, LG G4’s display is strengthened with Corning Gorilla Glass 4.


In terms of power, Nexus 5X presents a powerful hexa-core Snapdragon 808 chipset that’s been clocked at 1.8GHz and which is also paired with an Adreno 418 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM. LG G4 doesn’t fall short because it’s powered by the same processor and graphics processing unit but there’s a difference though, LG G4 features 3GB of RAM.


From the looks of it, LG G4 has the upper hand in both departments. First off, it wins the display department because it offers a bigger display and a larger resolution. Even though both devices are quite similar when it comes to hardware power, we have to give it to LG G4 and it’s larger amount of RAM.
