HP WebOS Tablet to be called PalmPad?

Following the acquisition of Palm by HP, a lot of news started floating the web. Mostly, it had a lot to talk about a WebOS based tablet from HP. Recently, HP filed a trademark for the phrase “PalmPad” for a mobile computing device and it makes it quite obvious that he WebOS tablet which everyone is very excited about will be called the same.

Previously, we speculated it to be the HP Hurricane and then HP confirmed that they would be using WebOS in various device including smartphones and tablets. Also, the trademark applications was filed under categories which included, computers, computers hardware, computer software, computer peripherals, portable computers, handheld and mobile computers, PDAs, electronics notepads and mobile digital electronic devices.

Well, I believe that there is no reason to doubt that the WebOS based tablet from HP will be called the PalmPad as all these clues clearly point it out. So, will it really be able to battle the Apple iPad, well it is yet unknown. However, I am pretty sure that we will soon be seeing some demos of the WebOS running on tablets and maybe then it may give us a hint of its true power.
