How to Fix the Nexus 5 Restart Issue
Although modern technology has come a great way when it comes to smartphones, it’s a well-known fact that there most of them still have some issues from time to time. In fact, this thing is absolutely normal. It just so happens that most devices glitch, freeze or just shut down out of the blue from time to time. The latter is actually an issue that the Nexus 5 seems to have on the regular. While the phones in the Nexus line work just fine overall, they all seem to have a penchant for restarting or completely shutting down out of the blue.
Here are a few of the most common issues that make the Nexus 5 restart or shut down seemingly out of nowhere. These tips also apply to Nexus 5X, 6 and 6P phones, so don’t steer away from this article thinking we don’t have your device covered.
Broken power button
This is a common issue with the Nexus 5, it seems: the power button becomes defective after a while. In order to fix it, you can either clean it or try pressing it really hard. If that doesn’t work, then you need to consider taking your phone in for repairing and letting a professional fix your problem.
We know that custom ROMs are great fun, but some of them are buggy and you won’t even know it. Nexus phones are a custom ROM heaven, so you might have one installed. If your phone shuts down or restarts at random, it might be because of a poor quality custom ROM that you installed, or a faultily installed one. In this case, you need to take the ROM off your phone completely and maybe switch to a better one. Or just avoid custom ROMs, your phone is fine in its original form.
