GTA 6 Release: Rounding up All we Know so Far

We just saw GTA 5 release worldwide last year. So, what’s up with GTA 6, and when it will be releasing? We take a look at all the rumors and reports here.

Just after Rockstar recently announced GTA 5 for the next-gen consoles back at E3 2014, rumors have started spreading all over the internet regarding GTA 6, the next title in the popular franchise.

Rockstar, the famous company behind the Grand Theft Auto series, has yet not officially revealed any plans to develop GTA 6. On the other hand, it hasn’t stated anything that suggests that it will be ending the popular series with GTA 5.

However, the company has previously revealed that they’ve got 45 years worth of ideas right now, as noted in the interview excerpt from below by Leslie Benzies, president of Rockstar North.

“We’ve got about 45 years worth of ideas we want to do. We don’t know what GTA VI will be, but we’ve got some ideas. GTA Online is the focus right now. There ain’t no rest between finishing V and then online. Plus we have some other things – stuff, DLC, I don’t know how to describe it exactly – that we’d like to do, and we’ll pick the right ones,”

GTA 6 To Take Place in New York?

A lot of rumours have come in suggesting that GTA 6’s action is to take place in Liberty City, which is the “virtual” New York city. Some of you might recall that Liberty City was the setting for GTA 4, which was also quite a hit.

Other reports say that the franchise will be leaving the U.S shores, as the company previously suggested that the game’s story does not have to stay put in a fictional US:

“At the moment it feels like [Grand Theft Auto’s] D.N.A. is contemporary-ish, America-ish, English-speaking-ish, because that’s what it has been… But that doesn’t necessarily limit it to those, that’s just what we’ve done so far,” said Dan Houser, co-founder of Rockstar.

Other locations that are being touted as venues for GTA 6 are, Paris, London, Brazil and Los Angeles.

Rockstar’s GTA 5 was reportedly the world’s most expensive video game to date, costing a whopping $265 million to develop and market. The result is evident with how popular the game’s been with fans across the globe, with the title having already sold over 33 million copies worldwide. And the game still hasn’t released for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One!

The production cost of rumoured GTA 6 will undoubtedly be higher, as Rockstar will be looking for more ideas to impress fans.

GTA 6 To Be Released in 2017?

GTA 6 will reportedly release in 2017, most likely only for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Now, don’t get over-excited. Most of the rumours are fueled by the excitement from followers who would love to get GTA 6 in a short while.

There have been some wild rumors that it could be called even “Return to Vice City”, but this seems highly unlikely. We’ll most probably getting more hints from Rockstar over the new title, so stay tuned.

Just like you, we don’t know an exact release date, but we’ll keep on digging until we find something interesting to share.
