Korean manufacturer Cowon, now has a new addition to their range of portable media players, it is called the Cowon V5W. The Cowon V5W has brilliant video capabilities as it can play back 1080p video onto external displays via and HDMI output.
The V5W has a 4.8-inch touchscreen (800 x 480) and it is quite a good screen for handheld media capabilities. It comes with WiFi capabilities and runs the Windows CE 6.0 topped with a proprietary user interface. It also contains a bunch of pre-loaded apps like dictionary, a few games, document viewer, web browser, e-book reader, weather reports and an email client.
The Cowon V5W comes in three variations of 16GB, 32GB and 64GB with prices set at $330, $380 and $455 respectively. Along with the built-in storage it also has a SDHC memory card slot for expandable memory. The release date of this device is yet unknown for the Koreans as well as North American markets.
