Along with the new iMac’s, Mac Pro’s and the Magic Trackpad, Apple has unveiled its new 27-inch LED Cinema Display. It is priced at $999 and features a built-in iSight video camera, universal MagSafe connector, USB 2.0 hub, microphone and speakers.

Philip Schiller, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Product Marketing said;

“With built-in MagSafe charging, iSight camera, speakers, and USB ports, the LED Cinema Display is ideal for MacBook and MacBook Pro users. With its massive 2560 x 1440 resolution, the new 27-inch LED Cinema Display is a perfect fit with our powerful new Mac Pro, and it gives iMac users an easy way to double their screen real estate.”

This new 27-inch LED Cinema Display features a 16:9 edge-to-edge glass display, is mounted on an aluminum stand with adjustable hinges which makes tilting much easier. The display can produce vivid colors at a really high contrast by utilizing a new technology called in-plane switching (IPS). This helps is to produce an image with a great viewing angle of 128 degrees. It is also topped up with light sensors which auto adjust the brightness depending on the external lighting conditions and uses only the energy required to provide an optimum viewing experience.

The new 27-inch LED Cinema Display is made using mercury-free LED technology, highly recyclable materials and arsenic-free glass. According to Apple the LED Cinema Display meets Energy Star 5.0 requirements and achieves an EPEAT Gold status.

It will require a Mac along with Mini DisplayPort and will be available to the US markets from September.
