Smosh Nears 20 MILLION Subscribers and 4 BILLION Views
A few days ago, we talked about PewDiePie and how many subscribers it has managed to garner and how many views his videos have generated. Today we talk about Smosh’s statistics.
Anthony Padilla is an American Internet comedian and is one of the two protagonists of the Smosh franchise. He is the founder of Smosh Productions.
So, if you’re following Smosh’s videos on Youtube, you should know that the account is soon nearing 20 million subscribers and almost 4 billion views. These are some impressive numbers indeed.
At the moment of writing this, Smosh had 18,384,496 subscribers and managed to generate
3,465,511,071 views. Let me remind you that Smosh’s Youtube channel is also quite old, as he has joined the video community on November 19, 2005. A lucky day was that.
Here are some more official details regarding Smosh and its history:
“The franchise began when Anthony Padilla built a website in 2002, smosh.com, and made several different Flash animations. He has stated that the name Smosh came from an incident where he mistook a friend explaining a mosh pit, as a “smosh pit”. Later, his friend, Ian Hecox, joined the venture. Padilla and Hecox first met in their sixth grade science class.”
“They became friends, and quickly discovered their knack for comedy. In 2005, they joined YouTube and made several videos together, lip syncing to theme songs such as Mortal Kombat, Power Rangers, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. At first, these videos were not intended to be posted online, but after they sent them to their friends, they started a YouTube channel.”
