Latest Dark Souls 2 DLC: How to Access ‘Crown of the Sunken King’

The highly anticipated first DLC pack for Dark Souls 2, Crown of the Sunken King, is finally available. But this is not just an ordinary DLC, because you’ll have to do some work to access the content.

As we promised a couple of weeks ago, the first DLC for Dark Souls 2 is now available. The new DLC is called Crown of the Sunken King and it’s the first of three DLC packs for Dark Souls 2.

This DLC won’t give you new quests or map makers, but will put a mysterious item into your inventory. You might be confused about what does this item do, or how to get it, but don’t worry, we’ll clear the things up for you.

When you start the game, you’ll notice that the new item has been added to “Keys” section of your inventory. This new item is The Dragon Talon, and it will give you instructions to go to a locked door in Black Gulch.

When you get to Black Gulch, go to the “Hidden Chamber” bonfire. In case you didn’t unlock it, you’ll have to explore Black Gulch’s poisonous towers. When you arrive, break the pots and get out of the chamber and then turn right. It is highly recommended to have some poison Moss or poison-resist gear with you.

When you see the burning area, go towards it, and you’ll arrive to the Boss arena of The Rotten. And here’s the trick, you can’t access the DLC content if you haven’t defeated The Rotten yet, so the only way to access the content is to defeat the boss.

When you go through the patch of fire, you’ll notice a small, dark hole, light the torch and go through that hole. You will arrive to the post-Rotten Primal Bonfire, but there’s now an elaborate altar, with pillars and four large tablets around it.

When you go to the center of the altar, you’ll finally be transported to the DLC content area. This DLC content will offer you three completely new areas and two new boss fights. Crown of the Sunken King is available for $10 individually, or $25 for the Season Pass.
