The Upcoming Warcraft MOVIE: What do we Know so Far
Since its announcement back in 2006, a Warcraft Movie produced a lot of confusion for its anticipating fans. In this article, I will try to clear things up for you, by providing you all necessary information about this title.
The plot of the movie is said to take place as in the game, on the planet of Azeroth. The film tells us the story about the conflict between the Alliance and the Horde, but I guess that was expected, so it’s not such a great piece of news. The movie will also contain some of the games main characters, such as Durotan, Lothar and Medivh.
As mentioned in the intro, this movie had many difficulties in management and development ever since its announcement in 2006. Blizzard Entertainment agreed on a deal with Legendary pictures, and they started to make this epic fantasy together.
But nothing was as smooth as expected, there were many problems in production. The movie suffered a couple of scenario changes and a few changes on a director position. Filming finally began on January 13th, 2014, almost 8 years after the movie was announced.
After 123 of shooting, filming finally ended on May 23th, 2014, and the movie was set to release on March 11th, 2016. Hopefully, there will be no other delays in releasing the movie.
The main cast was announced on December 23th 2013, consisting of Ben Foster, Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton, Dominic Cooper, Toby Kebbell and Rob Kazinsky.
Is a live action Warcraft movie the right move?
I have to thank WoWs subscriber Kara for asking this question on WoW 4th July video. “Why is blizzard making a live action movie when their animation skills are amazing? Like seriously… just make a movie like you make your cinematics.”
Opinions on this are divided through the internet. While many people agree that an animated movie would look great, part of them stand in Blizzard’s defense by saying that the animated movie would take much more time to be done, than the live action.
WoW cinematics are widely regarded as one of the best in gaming world, and an animated movie, based on these cinematics would definitely look great, but would it be profitable for Blizzard? Feel free to leave us your opinion on this topic.
Which idea do you support? The live action movie or the animated movie?
