Tetris Ultimate Release Date for Xbox One, PS4, PS Vita, PC: Latest Details
Tetris is a worldwide played game and doesn’t really need any introduction, having sold over more than 170 million copies across the globe. We’re now hearing some interesting news regarding “Tetris Ultimate”, the franchise’s next game release.
Tetris Ultimate, the upcoming downloadable multi-mode version of the classic game will arrive for the PS4, Xbox One this summer, and for the PC and PS Vita this fall, Ubisoft recently announced. The release will coincide with the franchise’s 30th birthday.
Original Tetris creator Alexey Pajitinov, Tetris Company managing director Henk Rogers and Blue Planet Software CEO Maya Rogers previously showed off the title at Ubisoft’s booth this year at E3.
Developer Blue Planet Software also later announced on a PS blog that the title will be releasing for the PS Vita this fall. Fortunately, the title will be a full version of the game, not a slimmed down version like some other titles that have previously released for the Vita.
In Tetris Ultimate, 1-4 players will be able to battle cascading blocks in six different modes: Battle, a head-to-head mode; Endless, where players score as much as they can in 30 levels; Marathon, which includes 15 levels; Power-Up Battle, which equips players with its titular powers; Ultra, a three-minute timed challenge; and Sprint, where you need to clear 40 lines as quickly as possible.
Ubisoft also announced the the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions both will run in 1080p at 60fps. It seems that Tetris Ultimate frankly won’t be one of those titles which releases at a lower frame rate on the Xbox One compared to the PS4, and we’re quite glad about that.
