De to the huge install base of the Xbox 360 and PS3 Borderlands 2 was able to become 2K Australia’s best published game. Randy Pitchford pointed out that when Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel was announced, Borderlands 2 had sold more copies on the Xbox 360 than the PS4 and Xbox One combined. Due to which they are releasing the game on last-gen consoles.

But still, the game to come to the next-gen consoles depends on the current game’s success.

“We’ll see how people react to the game, how much fun they have and whether or not everybody moves on to the next gen fully next year, I noted that the entire Borderlands fan base currently exists only on the older consoles and PC, so the idea of requiring people to buy new hardware to play the middle of a trilogy feels a little disingenuous.” said Matt Armstrong, Franchise Director for Gearbox.

Along with the release date, 2K Australia also announced the Pre-Order bonus. No details were given but there was an image which said in the bottom right corner:

“Enter the Shock Drop Slaughter Pit and face off against the toughest Scavs on Pandora’s moon, Elpis! Survive the battle and you’ll be feared and respected by the few left alive, not to mention the experience and gear you’ll earn!”
