Release Date for BMW M2: The Latest Updates and Details
BMW fans from all over the world are looking forward to the release of the elusive M2, but until today, nothing’s for sure. Let’s have a look at latest news
The original BMW M series has been hugely popular and now everybody is looking forward to the release of the BMW M2, which, according to what most rumors and hearsay seem to say, is scheduled to arrive in late 2015 at the earliest.
The M2 is said to gain a full body kit inspired by the track-only M235i Racing, so we should expect a highly-sculpted front bumper, a buldged hood, fender flares, side skirts and a trunk-mounted spoiler. Also, an air diffuser with four exhaust tips is said to complete the list of features, as well.
As expected, BMW will use a lot of carbon fiber which will help lower the car’s weight and improve efficiency, agility and performance. The model is said to sport a heavily-modified chassis packed with technology present in the M3/M4 duo, as well.
Other features include sport-focused interior with bucket seats for the front passengers, a M-specific instrument cluster, a sport steering wheel and also a carbon fiber trim on the dashboard. Sounds yummy, doesn’t it?
A twin-turbocharged variant of the 3.0-liter straight-six is said to make its way under the hood of the M235i, as well. The BMW M2 is said to have a horsepower between 365 and 375. There’s an eight-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual unit scheduled, as well, which should enable the M2 to reach 60 mph from a stop in less than five seconds.
An electronic limited-slip differential will make its way in all the models, as well. As for the price, the BMW M2 is said to retail for approximately $55,000.
So, according to the latest information circulating online, the M2 is coming at the end of 2015, or in early 2016, but if this date changes, we’ll make sure to keep you updated.
