CarPlay a safe and easy way to use your iPhone while you drive. Make calls, send texts or listen to the music already on your iPhone. This has been an option on selected new cars since early this year but now German car company Audi has joined the party.

Audi confirmed that the Apple product will be an option on the 2015 models destined for the European market. Those who live in North- America you will have to wait a little longer.

According to the people at Forbes the first of the CarPlay Audi models will only reach your shores in 2016. That allows ample time to save up a security deposit if you are a glass half full type of consumer. There were other companies to follow suit after Audi took the plunge.

Car companies like Mazda, Ford and BMW to name but a few (there are eight in total) that was added to the Apple list of  committed partners. Although many of these companies have not released any dates yet there are those companies who have promised to support CarPlay in their 2014 lineup.

Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai, Honda and Volvo have all reported that they will introduce CarPlay models into the market for this year. So there might be a CarPlay model in the near future if you can’t stand waiting for the Audi to finally hit American shores.

This growing trend in the car industry shows a concern with the mobile generation which has the need to stay connected to their world at all times. I am glad to see that even a large company like Audi can listen to what their consumers need.
