Not so long ago, we reviewed the SMS-based platform called txtWeb. The Intuit owned company is ever expanding, all thanks to its unique idea which allows every mobile user to access information from the web. Now, to encourage more developers, they have launched the App2Fame Challenge 2011. As we mentioned before, it is incredibly simple to develop for the platform, hence all you need is a good idea to get your SMS-based application enough fame to win of the prizes.
The apps would be listed under several categories including – Judges Choice Awards, Most Popular, etc. There would be winners under each of the categories and the grand prizes will include travel vouchers worth 1,00,000 INR and the second prize will include 50,000 INR vouchers which can be redeemed at major electronics store. Finally, the third prize along with three other prizes under sub categories of social networking, gaming and entertainment will win you prizes worth 20,000 INR. Moreover, the top five student developers will be eligible for an internship with the sponsors/affiliate while the top five startups can present their business plan to an expert panel for an objective review.
The contest closes on June 30, 2011 midnight and the winners would be determined by the number of unique users measured between July 1, 2011 and July 30, 2011, with 200 users as the minimum eligibility criteria. Since its launch, the platform now has over 650,000 unique mobile users, with 800,000 requests each day and user base doubles every 15 days. We are quite excited to see how developers will use this opportunity, and we are obviously expecting some great ideas simply based on this txtWeb’s SMS-based platform.
