The micro-blogging platform – Twitter has launched a new automatic URL shortening feature which will allow users to paste lengthy links directly into the text updated/message field and the website will shorten it the link on its own. This is a long awaited feature and required feature and now it is finally here so that you no longer have to visit sites like bit.ly, goo.gl , tinyurl.com, etc. to maintain the 140 character limit.

The new shortened URL from Twitter takes up 19 characters and will initially be rolled out to a small percentage of users. After 13 characters for the URL are entered it will give users a message that the link will be shortened. It will be assigned a t.co link ID. Twitter also confirmed that the converted URL would be checked against a list of potentially dangerous sites and if it matches to any users will be warned before they can continue.
Further the guys also launched a new language support for Brazilian Portuguese, to its already existing support for English, French, German, Spanish, Korean and Russian.
